Ingredients

  • 1 cup Dates
  • 2 tbsp Peanut Butter
  • 1 pinch Sea Salt or To Taste
  • 3 - 5 tbsp Water preferably from soaking the dates, as needed

Instructions

  • Remove the pits from the Medjool dates.
  • If the dates feel dry or firm, place them in a small bowl, cover with hot water, and let them soak for about 10 minutes.
  • Drain the dates, keeping a little of the soaking water aside.
  • Add the dates, peanut butter, salt, and 3 tablespoons of water to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides if needed.
  • If you prefer not to use peanut butter, you can replace it with another nut or seed butter using the same amount. Read the substitution section above for the best alternatives and flavor variations.
  • Add more water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired texture.
  • Taste and adjust the salt if needed.Transfer the Medjool date caramel sauce to an airtight jar and store it in the fridge.

Notes

Storage Note:
Store the Medjool date caramel sauce in an airtight jar or container in the refrigerator for up to 5–7 days. Because it is homemade and contains no preservatives, it is best enjoyed fresh. The texture may thicken slightly as it rests; stir well before using. If needed, add a small splash of water to make it softer or more pourable.
